Chapter 12 - The Cruel Siberian Winter

The bell rang out as Oolongman charged at Cerberus Knight, taking out the teabag that was held in his head and smacking Cerberus Knight right in the face, forcing him to the ground. With each strike of the wet tea bag, slightly lukewarm oolong tea would be splashed around the ring. Some drops even landed on the spectating fighters, with Angel trying to clean some from her cyborg eye.

“I don’t mind drinking tea, but this is too much!” Angel groaned as she tried to make sure none of the tea rained on her jacket. Nick Wolfe tried to make sure that the tea wouldn’t reach his wolf ears, which he covered up.

“This is too easy! I was expecting a fight from the guy that beat Drillman!” Oolongman chuckled as he smacked Cerberus Knight with the teabag, this time in the chest. It didn’t feel like the bag was filled with tea, but rather with some kind of heavy metal that seemed to get stronger with each strike.

The watching audience in the stadium began to laugh and holler at Cerberus Knight, pointing their fingers at the robotic fighter. Cerberus Knight got back, listening to the abusive words being hurled towards him. Cerberus Knight tried to ignore the booing and jeers, getting back up and punching Oolongman in the face.

“Stupid robot, you’re too weak! What a joke! I knew that robot was good for nothing! Boo! You suck, robot freak!”

“Cerberus, fight back against your opponent now! I command you, you worthless pile of scrap metal, destroy your opponent! Slash him to bits!” Greta roared at Cerberus Knight smacking him with the whip she carried. Each lash of the whip seemed to resonate on Cerberus Knight, each strike causing to grunt and remember his own childhood.

As the whip violently struck Cerberus Knight’s back with a loud, sickening crack and the audience laughed and booed at the robotic fighter, Cerberus Knight thought back, when he was younger. It was a while ago, about twelve years ago, in the snowy slums of Saint Petersburg. The snow was stained black by the tires of cars and the waste of stores.

Walking through the dark streets, the young Cerberus Knight seemed to be completely different than the one in the ring. His body was smaller but a little muscular, though still skinny due to a lack of three meals in four days. The sting of hunger pains were like needles were being pressed
in his stomach, trying to keep them down. He couldn’t have been more than six or seven, only a small child. The biggest difference was that Cerberus Knight used to wear a burlap bag over his head, with a pair of eye holes cut out.

Going into a small family owned pharmacy, the young Cerberus Knight picked up a small, clear bottle of medicine from one of the shelves. There was a small label on the bottle, though it was written in Russian. It cost eight-hundred rubles, which was all of the money that the robotic humanoid child had left in his pocket. He also felt a rumbling in his stomach, a rumbling of hunger, but the powerful sneeze was enough to tell him his priorities.

“Excuse me, I’d like to buy this, my mother’s dead and I need medicine for my cold.” Cerberus Knight meekly told the cashier as he showed him the medicine, who happily took the last of the rubles from the young robotic child. The cashier sneered at the robotic child as he left the store, trying not to be noticed as he exited the pharmacy quietly.

Cerberus Knight looked around, trying to make sure no one was watching him as he began to return back to his old home, which was an old shack in the middle of Saint Petersburg. However, unbeknownst to him, a group of four kids were following Cerberus Knight. They all looked much better off than Cerberus Knight, wearing nice clothes and a bit of spike accessories, a choker and a bracelet of spikes and chains.

“Hey, look! It’s the robot freak!” A large, overweight child called out, catching Cerberus Knight’s attention. This kid was with three others, all lanky and skinny and just looking for trouble. All four of them were carrying empty glass bottles taken from the trash and rocks from the street.

Cerberus Knight saw the things they held in their bags and immediately began to run as fast as his small legs could take him. He knew what these kids were going to do with those objects, and he knew that the only chance to get away. The four other children quickly made chase, throwing the bottles and rocks at the young Cerberus Knight.

“Hey, come back here, you robot freak!” The largest child barked, throwing an empty vodka bottle at Cerberus Knight’s head. The bottle shattered, making impact with Cerberus Knight, knocking him out cold.

“Ha! I knew it, this guy has a metal head!” The second-largest child giggled as the group of children all began to kick Cerberus Knight, who could only defend himself by trying to curl into a more defensive position.

“This is what you get, stupid robot!” The third-largest child declared as he began to stomp on Cerberus Knight’s back, which made Cerberus Knight shriek a bit.

Grabbing the child’s leg, Cerberus Knight threw him to the ground, slamming his head against a one of the rocks that were once thrown at him, causing him to go unconscious. Grabbing a bottle, Cerberus Knight smashed the glass bottle against the largest kids face, which shattered and covered his face in shards of sharp, bloody glass.

“You’re dead, you robotic freak!” The second-largest child stabbed Cerberus Knight in his back with a bottle of rum, only for Cerberus Knight to kick him in the chest. The kid seemed to have the breath kicked out of his chest, as the kid just collapsed to the snowy streets.

The youngest and smallest of the children seemed to have enough sense to run away, heading out of the alleyway. Now, Cerberus Knight was alone. He saw the three children, who were now incapacitated. But standing behind him was Greta, who smiled as she inspected Cerberus Knight’s bloody, violent handiwork.

“Little one, come with me back home,” Greta told Cerberus Knight, who turned around to see the pale demoness, who had let out her hand to the young robotic child. “I’ll train you to become strong. You’ll be able to win fights, and you’ll have all of the fame in the world.”

Cerberus Knight took Greta’s hand, looking at the woman before giving her a large hug. Though it wasn’t warm, it was actually quite cold, like metal. Greta’s smile was warm on the outside but cold on the inside, taking Cerberus Knight’s hand, leading the orphaned robotic child away from the cold.

However, the next few years seemed to be even worse. The practice fights were brutal, especially against the adult opponents. There was once seventy students, but that number seemed to dwindle with each day. One of these opponents was Sawman, a cyborg fighter with a hockey mask and a large, red chainsaw for his right hand. Cerberus Knight, now only a few years older, most likely thirteen or fourteen, was his opponent.

“Cerberus, use your Clawspears! Kill him!” Hans barked at Cerberus Knight, striking him on the back with his whip. Cerberus Knight charged at Sawman, stabbing his chest with his newly installed Clawpsears.

Sawman released a cloud of crimson blood from his mouth, finally collapsing to the training ring’s mat. Cerberus Knight looked at his bloodstained Clawspears, then back to Hans and Greta. Both of the demons nodded, giving the robotic warrior a thumbs up in approval. All Cerberus Knight could do was accept their approval and push their feelings down even further.

But in the present time, all Cerberus Knight was filled with was rage. The rage of the past, the rage of the lashings, and the rage of the jeers. Cerberus Knight activated his Clawspears, slashing at Oolongman. By luck, Oolongman dodged past them, hitting the ropes, where Oolongman thought he was safe from Cerberus Knight’s wrath.

“You’re finished, Oolongman!” Cerberus Knight declared, stabbing him through the chest with his Clawspears. A fountain of blood blasted from Oolongman’s chest, spraying Rikishi, Sukhoi Man, and Weiss with blood. Letting out an ear-piercing scream, Oolongman could only struggle as Cerberus Knight lifted him up and began to drink from the Chinese teacup on his head. A mix of blood and tea fell to the mat,

“Oh my God! How horrifying!” Purple cried out, covering her eyes as Cerberus Knight slurped down on Oolongman’s warm tea. Angel covered Frankie’s eyes, hopefully to avoid seeing the gruesome scene. Regina seemed to grin at this carnage, a twinkle glowing in her eyes.

After just a minute of drinking the tea, Cerberus Knight simply let Oolongman out of his tight grip. The Chinese tea-themed fighter now starred with horror at Cerberus Knight, quickly tapping out of the ring. The ring’s bell rang out three times, giving Cerberus Knight the victory. The fans, who were once booing Cerberus Knight, now cheered him on.

“That Cerberus Knight is one tough cookie,” Knightmask sighed, crossing his legs as he sat in his chair. “But his fighting style of brutal moves is what makes him such a powerful opponent.”

“I didn’t think that anyone would be this effroyable in a fight of sport.” Rose Chat moaned, her cat ears seeming to droop a bit. However, Knightmask offered the French cat girl his hand, which she gently took.

“And the winner of this match is the Russian robot Cerberus Knight! After a brutal fight, Cerberus Knight has prevailed over Oolongman!” The announcer declared as Oolongman was taken away in a stretcher by a group of paramedics. Cerberus Knight seemed eerily still, not moving an inch even as confetti and streamers seemed to shower him.

“Oh, Cerberus Knight, I have a question for you,” The interviewer asked Cerberus Knight, going up to him with the microphone. “What do you plan to do with your prize money if you win?”

Hans and Greta began to shoot daggers with their eyes at Cerberus Knight, making sure he would say the answer they would want the audience to hear. All that he respond was, “The money will go to both of my teachers, Hans and Greta, and what they’ll do with it, I don’t know.”

Both of the demons smiled at this statement, seeming pleased with Cerberus Knight’s answer as he exited the ring. Weiss looked at Cerberus Knight with a sympathetic glance, taking the robotic fighter’s hand as the group walked away. Rocky seemed to glare from afar this, heading back to where Nick Wolfe and Angel sat.

“I can’t stand those two, they treat their students like garbage.” Rocky groaned as she stretched a bit, letting her wings flap a bit. Josefumi Wolfe nodded in agreement, standing next to his wife.

“I agree, Mom, I especially don’t like the way they treat Cerberus Knight with the whips and their negative words.” Nick Wolfe sighed, crossing his arms.

“Well, I just hope that I we never have to fight him.” Angel replied to this, putting her cyborg hand on Nick Wolfe’s shoulder. Nick Wolfe smiled at this, looking at the cyborg panda.

“Angel, my fight is coming up next,” Nick Wolfe told Angel and Frankie with a smile. “Wish me luck, okay?”

“Nah, I’m rooting for Sukhoi Man. Good luck with losing, loser!” Regina replied, getting a smack on the back of her head by Angel. Regina looked at Angel, rolling her eyes in that teenaged girl way.

“Regina, don’t be rude, especially to Nick Wolfe! Just wish him luck, okay?”

“Whatever, Angel! You’re not the boss of me, so I’ll criticize your boyfriend if I want!”

“Anyways, Nick, I wish you good luck in your fight!” Angel told Nick Wolfe in a slightly flustered tone, which made him smile as the ring was now finished being cleaned out. Now, the ring was clean of blood and tea, and now was squeaky clean.

“Wolfe, do you have the new suit I gave you?” Rocky asked Nick Wolfe, who nodded as he seemed to be hiding something under his normal clothes.

“And now, we have our next match today, we have Nick Wolfe, the newcomer child of Rocky and Josefumi from America,” The announcer began to declare as Nick Wolfe entered the ring, waving to both of his parents. “And his opponent, the plane from Ukraine, Sukhoi Man!”

Sukhoi Man entered the ring, seeming to fly down from above and land on his corner, seemingly from the skies above. Sukhoi Man’s engines seemed to still be revving, which only seemed to hype up the crowd even more. Nick Wolfe and Sukhoi Man did some stretches, getting ready for the fight that would before them.

“I’ve got something to reveal, and I think people will like it!” Nick Wolfe declared as he took off his shirt and pants, revealing a singlet. It was grey, with the Kanji for fang on his back, written with black ink. There was a wolf-like insignia on the right side of his chest, while a few pins were sewed onto the left side of the shirt.

The crowd went wild at this, as many of the women and girls in the crowd seemed to cheer the loudest. Quite a few people of Nick Wolfe’s own age now stared at his large, powerful muscles, and how well they looked under the Brazilian sun. Angel felt a trickle of blood coming from her nose, as well as a large blush growing and spreading on her face.

“Ohhh, looks like someone has a crush!” Regina teased her older sister, though she was quickly bopped on the head by Lifen Fong, sighing as the bell rang out for the fight to begin.
